Frequently asked questions

what can i expect during the class? Who will be there?

Class is an hour long and led by one of our educators. Grown ups stay with their little ones at all times. There will be up to 8 families per class. We gather on a mat, sitting on the ground. After some activities, we will go on a nature walk. This may include flat or uneven paths, paved and unpaved areas, as well as wet, muddy, or dry terrain depending on the weather. Some parts are not stroller accessible so a carrier of some kind is recommended. Children and grown ups should come wearing sunscreen and appropriate layers. It’s a good idea to have wipes and a change of clothes ready in case they get dirty (which they hopefully do!) in class.

what do i wear? what does my baby wear?

See warm and cold weather guides here (coming soon!)

Generally, wear what you would feel comfortable in for a park hang out, while considering the weather the day of your class! We recommend layers, sunscreen, water bottles, closed toe walking shoes, hats, and sunglasses. For your child, consider the same. We also recommend bringing your child a full change of clothes for after class, just in case.

What if the weather is bad?

While we encourage getting out in all kids of weather, we recognize that extreme weather is sometimes not safe for our little ones. Class will be canceled and an email will be sent the night before if any of the following types of weather are predicted:

If it’s going to be cold, hot, snow lightly or drizzle within safe conditions we will still hold class.

what should i bring to class?

Come with you and your little one wearing sunscreen, appropriate layers, hats, water bottles, an extra pair of clothes, wipes, and a baby carrier of some type. Wear whatever shoes you feel comfortable in, knowing we will be going on a nature walk and areas could be paved or unpaved, flat or elevated, and dry or wet. See our guides on the What do I Wear FAQ. Please do not bring any toys from home so we can focus on the materials presented at class.

How do i know where to go for the class?

After purchasing a class you will receive an order confirmation email and a follow up email with a map and details about your class.

Are there restrooms?

There are currently open public restrooms at the parks we use for class. However, there are no diaper changing stations and its advised to use the restroom and do diaper changes before and after class just in case they are not availble.

  • the feels like temp is predicted to be below 25 degrees or above 95 degrees

What if I can no longer attend?

If you can no longer attend a class we will offer you a credit to use towards a class in the future.

Is my child too sick for class?

We trust your judgement to attend class with your child but also ask that you stay home if your child has a fever over 100, is secreting mucus, vomiting, has diarrhea, unknown rash, or has a known contagious illnesses such as strep, pink eye, whooping cough, or hand foot and mouth.

How many people can I bring? what about siblings?

Children can have one or two grown ups with them. All Adults attending must sign our waiver. Unfortunately, due to the intentional focus on the specific age group of each class, siblings not in that age group are unable to join. If you have two children in one age group you will need to sign a waiver for each child and hold a spot for each. Use code Sibling20 to get 20% when enrolling two children.

Is there Financial Assistance AvaIlable?

Yes! We want to support as many families getting outside as possible. If you would like to donate a class to a family, please do so on our classes/donations page. If you would like to receive financial assistance please email us, before purchasing a class, via our Contact us page.

How are you inclusive to different abilities and family types?

Our founder is Queer and neurodivergent and it’s a huge mission of ours to be an absolutely safe place to celebrate diversity. We welcome all abilities and all family types. We are strong supporters of our ADHD and Autistic communities and our LGBTQ+ families, Poly families, Adoptive Families, and Nannies and other family members as caregivers.

Any attendees that are found to be not supportive of this will not be permitted to attend class again.

We want you and your little to have an experience thats right for you. Please read through the descriptions of class and bring whatever additional tools you may like to support your journey with us (walking supports, noise canceling headphones, fidgets, your own blanket to sit on, etc.) At the begining of class the instructor will ask if anyone has any injuries or limitations so that we may adjust the course of our nature walk or support in other ways if needed.

What about Safety?

Grown ups are in charge of their child’s safety at all times. There is no drop off programming available as we believe our youngest learners are best supported by maintaining this 1:1 ratio while we explore. There are inherent risks of outside exploration such as scrapes, falls, animal waste, choking hazards, etc. Adults can choose to participate and let their children participate in the ways they feel most comfortable. All staff have been trained in First Aid and CPR and have First Aid kits on hand.
